EPF / PF Calculator India 2026

EPF interest is calculated monthly on the opening balance but credited annually. Current EPF interest rate is 8.25% p.a. (FY 2024-25). Monthly interest = (Opening balance + Employee contribution) × 8.25/12/100. This compound monthly interest builds significant retirement corpus.

Total contribution: 24% of basic salary. Employee: 12% of basic (goes entirely to EPF). Employer: 12% split as — 8.33% to EPS (pension scheme, capped at ₹15,000 basic) and 3.67% to EPF account.

EPF (Employees Provident Fund) is the savings + interest account — you get it on retirement/withdrawal. EPS (Employees Pension Scheme) provides monthly pension after 58 years with 10+ years service. Employer contributes 8.33% to EPS, capped at ₹1,250/month.

Full EPF withdrawal is allowed at retirement (58 years) or after leaving job with 2+ months unemployment. Partial withdrawal for specific needs: medical (up to 6 months basic), marriage (50% after 7 yrs), home purchase/construction (after 5 yrs). Tax-free after 5 years of service.

EPF withdrawal is tax-free after 5 years of continuous service. If withdrawn before 5 years, it is taxable as income. TDS @ 10% applies on PF withdrawal before 5 years if amount exceeds ₹50,000. Submit Form 15G/15H to avoid TDS if income is below taxable limit.

EPF interest rates: 2024-25: 8.25%, 2023-24: 8.25%, 2022-23: 8.15%, 2021-22: 8.10%, 2020-21: 8.50%, 2019-20: 8.50%. The EPFO board declares the rate annually based on income from investments.
